Greetings my Friends!

I would like to start this newsletter with mentioning the tragic death of one of my friends who I met during my stay in Sydney. Through Rafi I had the pleasure to meeting her and even spent Christmas Eve together with her (see last newsletter). Angie died after a very unfortunate car accident while driving home from work on a Friday evening. I know that some of you know her personally… it’s a tragic loss. We will remember her

As usual there has been quite a few things to report since the last newsletter – Btw thanks for the great feedback in regards to the amount of pictures in the last newsletter. Hopefully this one will be as pleasurable to read for you (there's almost 100 new pictures). Let's get going:

Simon, my colleague and good friend from Sydney, has organised a beautiful hike at Mt. Donna Buang, about 1,5 hours West of Melbourne. Together with some of his buddies and friends we picked a very cold day in May (that wasn't planned! ;)) to hike up the Mountain. It was freezing cold, wet and muddy - but that was the fun. Returning back to the bottom of the hill, one of the cars we drove up to the hiking site was stolen! Can you believe it? Who would do that? Anyways, you can imagine that we had to squeeze in ONE medium sized car - we managed to get 6 big guys in one car! Until today the car has not been found... here are some pictures from the hike:

Another good event organised by my friend Dave was a Go-Kart evening. I’m lucky my brother, Sascha, wasn’t here; otherwise I would have never made the second place. This result was probably made possibly due to the brutal and painful training with one of my longest and best friends, Christian from Bremen. BTW greets to Wolfi, Steffi, Benny and all the rest of the Schau Family! Unfortunately I don't have made pictures from this event... was too busy holding the kart in the right lane :)

After the semester ended i went on a project to Perth for several weeks (that's how i usually spent my vacation *hehe* - working). There, i was fortunate to meet my old backpacker neighbors from good old Sydney: Steffi and Sigrid from Germany (HI!). We had some good time visiting a Salsa night club where an South American Latin Music band played (Salsa, Mambo, Paso, etc..). I was also lucky the one of my university friend's brother lives in Perth, Niyam (see picture below), who showed me around the City during my first time over there.

Together with my friend Waldek, we visited several Polish parties in the Melbourne area. It's quite nice to party the Polish way again, after such a long time ;). On the last weekend in Perth i met up with Clinton "the President" and Souleyman "The Soulman" (two of my work colleagues) and we went on a weekend trip to Margaret River. This beautiful small town is famous for its great wines that are known all over Australia and abroad. We rented a cabin and a car and took a ride through Western Australia. We met a couple girls and ended up on a very interesting "Hippy" party on Saturday night. The highlights of the night were live "Fire-Dance" performances, as you can see them in Thailand. Of course we also spent an entire day tasting all the different wines in the area (maybe not all - there is over 20 vineyards).

In the beginning of July I organised the first official Alumni Meeting of my Polish-American University in Australia. We are currently 6 ex-WSB-NLU students that are studying/ living in Australia. The entire venture took place one day after my Quarterly Team Meeting in Sydney. Thursday, I arrived from Perth at around 7pm and met up with my colleagues in a Japanese Restaurant for dinner, after which we went out for drinks (Christoph, a colleague, had his birthday). Finishing up at around midnight I decided that i have to see my friends from Poland, which couldn't wait till the next day. Somewhere around 6.30am and traditionally (quite) a bit of vodka i arrived at Jurek's house who kindly invited me to stay with him during my time in Sydney. Around three hours later the quarterly business consulting group meeting began... you can image how i looked like ;). Nevertheless the big party was just to begin in the evening. At around 9pm many of my friends arrived and we started the official Alumni party as well as reunion with my friends from Sydney.

On Saturday Simon, Monika and I went for a walk - and got completely soaked by some nasty Rain.

On my last day in Sydney I met up with Chris and Malgorzata. Together we went to Watson Bay to have Fish&Chips at a lovely, sunny and warm Sunday afternoon.

Sometime in between my very good friend Kfir had his birthday party. Look at those smiling faces! Later on in the month another three good friends of mine Anshul, Luk and Tiffany had their housewarming party. I used to live with Anshul for a couple months when i came to Australia. He's an excellent Indian Cuisine Cook.

My ex-study buddy Michal moved to Melbourne in the beginning of this year after spending 2 years in Shanghai, China. Ever since we meet regularly for all kind of different events. The pictures below are from our trip to Bell's Beach, one of Victoria's finest beaches. We went Boogie-Boarding:

To acculturate myself a bit more I started going to Footy Matches (a form Football in Australia). Since I live in St. Kilda i naturally support the St. Kilda Team - and btw they ROCK this season! Tal, my Israeli friend, convinced me to go for the first time...

After I returned from my Summer-Internship at in Sydney I went back to boss, Pierre-Francis, and asked him if there would be an opportunity to keep on working for SAP Business Consulting from the Melbourne Office - and there was. In the end of March I started again on a part-time basis doing 2,5 days a week. I assumed a Business Analyst/ Associate Business Consulting role in form of yet another internship which is still ongoing until i finish my studies in Melbourne. My Knowledge Management role was extended to the Regional (Asia-Pacific) Knowledge Management Coordinator where I coordinate global initiatives with Europe and North America and keep the Knowlege Management in our Asia-Pacific Practice up-and-running. Further I started working on projects and project support - It's great to grow professionally while studying. Additionally to my existing roles i also took on the moderator role of the Business Consulting Asia-Pacific Enterprise Portal section and provide administrative assistance to the regional Business Consulting Management team whenever i can.
In term of projects i helped developing a strategic benefits realization framework for a SAP plant maintenance project at the biggest dairy product producer in Australia. Another project was named "development of a Cost-Tree-Driver Model" that would support the annual budgeting process of the second largest mining company in the world through the harmonization of different cost-driver models across the client's Australian mining sites. But enough business talk for now. As part of my administrative roles i helped organising the regional Business Consulting Boot-Camp 2005 (a training conference), which took place in Port Douglas, about 1hr north of Cairns in the the Tropic regions of North-East Australia. We had colleagues coming from India, Singapore, China, South Korea, Denmark and from all over Australia. Before the Conference began, during and after we spent some time exploring the surroundings of Port Douglas and Cairns - mainly the Great Barrier Reef. The views were just beautiful, enjoy:
