Hi Again, my Friends!

Oh, how long has it been this time? I reckon the last time I got to write a newsletter was heaps (Australian slang for a lot) of time ago – like in August 2005, which makes it a bit over 9 months. I can already tell you that there has been some major events, a lot of change, fortunately only good one.

Ok let’s take the good old German approach of sequencing and lining up the news in a logical, structured and chronologically correct order. I'm starting where my last newsletter ended. When Australia came out of the winter, last year, the days becoming longer, and the temperature levels going up the first major sports events took place in Melbourne . To warm up we had almost a full month of Horse Races, branded as the Spring Carnival Races. Crazy after-parties, great people, great fun. Also nice to see, coming back from a great night out on Friday were the Tri-Athletes warming-up in front of my house in St. Kilda. Each year there is a series of Triathlons taking place each Octobre/ November/ December around the Port Philip Bay.

Illustration 4: Check out this horse's crazy muscles!

In mid-Octobre I was invited by SAP to attend a Consulting Skills workshop, which was very useful, learning about workshop and interview skills and how to handle “bad situations” at the customer. It was a great fresh-up and learning exercise taking place in Healesville, a bit over an hour in the directions of the Dandenong Mountains, east of Melbourne. My colleagues from SAP and I had great fun in a paradise like, idyllic scene next to a beautiful golf course. Somehow though, and I can’t explain it, I couldn’t get up at five in the morning to have a round of golf *hehe*.

Illustration 8: How good is that, compared to the normal office environment?

The next picture is from our Business Consulting Golf Tournament taking place under horrible conditions. Yes – it can rain heavily in Australia … for those of you, who don’t believe me check out the picture below:

Now the big news in regard to changes in my life: Remember my last newsletter, when we my team in Australia met up with the other Business Consulting team in the Asia-Pacific region for a Boot Camp in Port Douglas? Well, what I haven’t told you then is that I had the best humanly possible job interview in the evening, walking the four mile beach with my two managers, Marc-Alexander and Pierre-Francis. Basically it was about extending my stay in the region and to start working permanently with SAP. Well, I thought about it for quite some time, like about two or maybe three seconds (can’t remember exactly due to some drinks we had earlier) and accepted the offer I received that night. Back then I only had to complete my studies, which I officially did on the 29th of November 2005… can’t tell you how great it feels to have finished studies (at least for now), have a great job in a great country, but most importantly be part of the best team in the entire world (Greetings Ladies and Gents!). On that note, it might be worthwhile to mention that my team has received an award as one of the Field Services Fast Impact Teams for 2005 (there was three teams receiving this award in Asia-Pacific) – do you see now what I mean with best team? *YEAHAA!*

Oh but coming back to some pictures and less boasting around ;). I actually went to Europe in mid November and spend Christmas and New Years’ there before I officially started working as “Associate Business Consultant” on the 16th of January 2006. Here are some pictures from my trip:

Before returning to Australia and after Poland I went to Germany to catch up with my mum, friends (Chris, Konsi, Larissa and many more) and former colleagues (Frank, Oli, Dietmar, and so many more). While there I was lucky enough to get invited to the SAP Walldorf Christmas party, which took place in the newly constructed SAP Arena in Mannheim , not far from Frankfurt . I also got invited to attend to an Accenture Assessment Centre which was a great experience for me and only confirmed how much I like to work for SAP together with my Team – it’s just unbeatable. Please, for all of you, I didn’t have time or resources to visit, accept my apologies. It was really hard to visit just a few of you in the relative short timeframe. We will see each other again!

Friday, the 13th of January I sat down in a plane in Vienna and took off to head back to Melbourne, two days later I landed and believe it or not, not jet lag whatsoever. I figured that if i fly on Friday the 13th and nothing would happen I would never have to be concerned about that date anymore... it worked :) Coming into Australia for the second time i was happily using my electronic business visa sponsored by my company. Now officially party time was over and my real adult life began. The first three months of work went fairly relaxed as you can see on the pictures below, usually the summer and beginning of year is fairly laid-back in Oz - but now it's getting busier and busier. The highlights during that quiet period were probably that I met two beautiful polish sisters and had a trip to Queensland ( Couran Cove Island to be exact), where our annual SAP Consulting Kick-Off took place. Also to mention are my trips to Sydney that had a full-blown party program attached. Sydney is a great place in the summer! At the moment i'm fully engaged with a mining company down in Perth, Western Australia. Fortunately i'm able to fly back over the weekends and spent some quality time here with my friends.

Following i wanted to share the pictures from Couran Cove as well as from other occassions. Write me if you want to know more about any of those :)

In the next newsletter you will see pictures from India, where I'm going to a wedding of one of my best friends here in Australia - Anshul. That will be a great trip and a great chance to learn about the Indian Culture first hand... :)

Have fun, enjoy life as much as you can and talk to you soon. By the way if you are using Skype, give me a call - my username is "vamplasma".  Find my other details below (private and work)
